Welcome to Reiki – a gentle tool for empowerment, transformation, well being and peace.

“Reiki” is a composite of two Japanese words, “rei” which means life force or energy, and “ki” meaning key or opening. “Reiki” can be understood to mean an opening to universal life energy through one human being (the practitioner) into another.

Reiki can be used to treat almost any condition, as long as you, the client are willing to receive the energy. It has been used for such conditions as strains and sprains, joint disorders, back problems, headaches, skin disorders, recovery from illness or surgery, etc.

Reiki is not an instant cure and is not meant to replace other forms of treatment. It is, rather, a tool to assist with other treatments and a means to assist recovery of health and well being. Clients have reported relief of discomfort and significant improvement in quality of life. Reiki can also be used as a relief for stress, trauma, shock and depression, as Reiki creates a deep sense of relaxation.

Many people use Reiki to promote the maintenance of optimal health and wellbeing. Reiki reconnects or improves the energy flow levels throughout the entire body. This enables a greater awareness of harmony and healing potential within you the client.

For the Reiki session, you will be lying down with a blanket covering you. There is no need to remove any clothing, apart from the shoes. I place my hands on or above your body, whatever you are most comfortable with. Using no pressure, I then go through a series of positions and remain at each position for a few minutes.

In the session, your body will absorb the Reiki energy through the palms of my hands, as I act as a conductor for the energy. You may experience coolness or warmth. The energy is experienced as a deep sense of relaxation and well being.

The treatment is usually done in silence, with gentle music playing. However, if there is anything you feel is important to discuss, feel free to do so.

It is recommended that you have an initial series of 4 Reiki treatments at weekly intervals, in order to receive full benefit from the Reiki energy. This is left entirely up to you to decide.
